Not so very long ago, when I turned 40, I decided to change my eating habits. I had been blessed with reasonably good health all my life and I wanted to do whatever I could to make it last! So I started investigating good nutrition. But the more I read the clearer it became: nutrition is only one part of the puzzle! In the same way that it’s not only the engine in a car that can breakdown, you have to have an eye for your Integral Health, if you want to be truly healthy.
What do I mean by Integral Health?
Integral Health is a set of biological, emotional and psychosocial factors that, according to the World Health Organization, contribute to a state of equilibrium. Importantly, good health is not just the absence of injury or disease; it is held to be the presence of a number of positive factors too.
Sure, this is a challenge! It takes a lot of effort to make the necessary changes to ensure you’re enjoying the benefits.
But in the end they are worthwhile changes!
So, more than just making sure I ate right, I wanted to take care of my mental and social health too. I worked to eliminate everything that generated sadness and anxiety in my life. It’s not easy, but my goal was clear and I had to reach it.
15 years have passed since then. (!!)
And since then, I’m proud to say that I have enjoyed an excellent quality of life.
I work to ensure I have dedicated enough time to myself, that my physical routine, a constant medical control that generates me peace of mind. Combining this with good reading, sharing with my loved ones and now writing, is my ideology and my base.
Thanks to Integral Health, I have been able to cope with the biological and psychological changes that we all experience as we age. Now more than ever I feel fulfilled, because I know that I have won the promise of living longer.
Worry less. Smile more. Keep growing!
It’s easy to say, but more important to do!
